Església de Santa Maria de Porqueres
Crta. de circumval.lació de l'estany
The church was built at the end of the 12th century. There is a single nave with a barrel vault finished in a very elongated apse. It was consecrated in 1182 and, to the inside, there is a standout triumphal arch resting on detailed columns and capitals with non-religious motifs. On the other hand, the mouldings where the columns begin are decorated with a plethora of religious elements with scenes of original sin, showing the Pantokrator. This arch separates the nave from the chancel. The entry is monumental with three graded horseshoe arches. The well-formed keystones run to the door. There is a series of medallions on the entry arch showing a mix of very pretty decorative motifs: human heads, different animals, flowers and geometric shapes.
